Charlie Weis Rips Penn State Football Coach James Franklin

Penn State Football head coach James Franklin took some heat from an unexpected source, following the Nittany Lions‘ disappointing loss to Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl.

Shortly after Penn State‘s 38-25 drubbing, former Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis — Who is the father of Ole Miss Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weis Jr, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to put Franklin on blast.

The brunt of Weis’ criticism seems to stem from Franklin’s post-game comments, in which the Nittany Lions’ head coach pointed to turnover on the coaching staff and via opt outs as major obstacles ahead of the New Year’s Six Bowl.

“Just too many moving parts with the staff and with the players against a good team,” Franklin told reporters. “Too many moving parts, staff and players, to have the type of success that we wanted to have today. I won’t get into all the details. “I thought the officiating was less than desirable. That first drive, we have the field goal, we run a slant, we get turned around, but I’ll move on. I could list out a number of examples. That’s a big play in that game at a critical moment, starting out with a touchdown rather than a field goal is significant. But I’ll move on. But I’ll move on.” It appears, at least for now, that Weis has not.
