Penn State Football Recruiting Adds First 2025 Commitment

Penn State Football

2025 four-star OT Jaelyne Matthews out of Toms River, New Jersey has committed to Penn State Football.

Matthews is coming off a visit this weekend to the Nittany Lions‘ junior day. He holds offers from Georgia, Ohio State, and Miami, among others, prior to committing to James Franklin and Penn State Football.

Matthews is the first commit for Penn State in the class of 2025. In the 247 sports composite rankings, Matthews is the number 60 overall player, number five offensive tackle, and No.1 player from the state of New Jersey.

Franklin’s ability to pull a prospect with Matthews’ pedigree out of the Garden State, is a win for Penn State Football, over Greg Schiano’s and Rutgers’ aims to keep some of New Jersey’s top talent at home.

Just like the 2024 class, which started last year with four-star offensive tackle Cooper Cousins, Phil Trautwein gets Penn State’s 2025 class started early on the offensive line picking up what in the end could be one of the best pieces in the class. James Franklin’s trust in Trautwein continues to pay dividends for Penn State.
