Penn State Basketball guard/forward Evan Mahaffey has entered the transfer portal, according to numerous sources.
Mahaffey was part of former head coach Micah Shrewsberry‘s first full incoming first year class, along with Kebba Njie, Jameel Brown, Kanye Clary and Demetrius Lilley. Mahaffey’s minutes varied wildly throughout the season but he averaged 9.3 minutes, scoring 2.8 points and grabbing 1.7u rebounds.
The 6-foot-6 rising sophomore showed good touch with the ball for someone of his height, reminding fans why he was a point guard in high school despite his taller build. He was often asked to guard opposing forwards and centers in the ‘all guard’ lineup.

Impact of Penn State Basketball Losing Evan Mahaffey
In a roster that featured almost all seniors, Mahaffey was expected to play a significant role with the 2023-2024 Nittany Lions team. He now joins teammates Caleb Dorsey and Dallion Johnson in the transfer portal, all within days of Micah Shrewsberry announcing he was leaving for the Notre Dame job.
Seth Lundy announced he will enter the NBA Draft and heralded incoming recruit Carey Booth has asked for a release from his national letter of intent.
Just another day for Penn State Basketball
