The smoke from wildfires in Canada burning out of control that has engulfed much of the east coast of the United States has reached Beaver Stadium.

Wednesday, the home of Penn State Football was covered by a thick haze from the wildfires, as seen from the video below, shared by NBC Sports producer Rob Kuestner.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the air in Happy Valley had reached unhealthy levels, according to Airnow.gov’s measurements.

Smoke from the wildfires is being funneled into Pennsylvania, and much of the east coast by strong currents as approximately 9.4 million acres of land currently burn in Canada.

While still far from ideal, the situation in State College at the time paled in comparison to the thick smoke covering New York City that caused the FAA to ground some flights into LaGuardia International Airport and Major League Baseball to postpone Yankees vs. White Sox.

Elsewhere in Pennsylvania, Wednesday night’s Phillies vs. Detroit Tigers game was also postponed.

Clearly, if this were a home game weekend for the Nittany Lions, it is anyone’s guess if the game would be played amid unhealthy air quality.
