Meet Penn State Football Sleeper Offensive Coordinator Candidate

Penn State Football

Penn State Football should consider Brennan Marion for its new offensive coordinator.

Marion currently coordinates the UNLV Rebels’ offense and runs the go-go offense, which he created.

The Go-Go Offense is an uptempo, no-huddle, downhill run game that takes advantage of the entire field and match-ups. Two running backs are next to the quarterback on the right, and three receivers out wide.

UNLV is currently third in the Mountain West, averaging 421.8 yards per game. They are also third in rushing, averaging 195.9 yards per game, and in passing, averaging 226.1 yards per Contest.

Meanwhle, UNLV averages 36.4 points per game and is 8-2.

What Brennan Marion Would Bring Penn State Football

The go-go offense forces the defense to overload one side of the field and gives the offense an advantage when running the ball to the weak side.

It also utilizes the short passing game and can stretch the field vertically, which is what Penn State needs.

This could wind up being the perfect offense for the Nittany Lions.

Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton could thrive in Marion’s system because of the two-back sets. Both running backs can get the ball in this offense, which features a power-running scheme.

In the passing game, it would also give Drew Allar a chance to throw short and get the ball downfield to receivers.

More importantly, it will be more of an uptempo system, unlike that boring offense the Lions had been running, prior to Yurcich’s firing.

Marion’s exotic formations would help create mismatches for Penn State Football.

The Rebels have three running backs who have rushed for over 400 yards: Vincent Davis Jr. (553), Jai’Den Thomas (420), and Donavyn Lester (418). Also, Thomas has nine touchdowns, Lester eight, and Davis four.

UNLV quarterback Jayden Maiava has completed 65.4% of his passes, throwing 11 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Ricky White leads the Rebels with 62 catches, 1,020 yards, and six touchdowns, which is a career-high for White.

This offense would suit Penn State because of all the opportunities it would create for its playmakers.

Players like Dante Cephas and KeAndre Lambert-Smith could do well in the go-go offense. It would allow the Nittany Lions to use some power running and short passing but, it would still add a vertical attack.
