Drew Allar, Penn State Football

There’s One Big Reason Drew Allar Might Enter the 2025 NFL Draft, After All

Penn State quarterback Drew Allar is preparing for one of the biggest games of his life against Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl on Thursday. If things go the Nittany Lions‘ way, they will be playing to win their first national championship since 1986.

While Allar has been impressive in their first two playoff wins, the Fighting Irish defense is very different from facing SMU and Boise State, and the second-year starting quarterback will need an excellent performance to pull off a win.

If Allar can play lights out, there have been rumors that he could enter this year’s NFL Draft.

The 20-year-old quarterback has announced he will return for the 2025 season, but his current performance and the lack of good quarterbacks in this class could make him the first or second quarterback taken in the draft this April.

Could NFL Draft Order Impact Drew Allar’s Future?

The NFL regular season ended on Sunday. The Tennessee Titans hold the number one pick, followed by the Cleveland Browns at two and the New York Giants at three.

All three of those teams need a quarterback, and there are only two quarterbacks worth taking in that range: Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.

The Cleveland Browns need a quarterback in the worst way possible.

Their signal caller, Deshaun Watson, has a torn Achilles and will most likely miss a good amount of 2025. Allar could decide to head to the NFL this year because of ties with Cleveland.

Allar is from Medina, Ohio, about 40 minutes away from Cleveland, and Allar grew up a giant Browns fan.

Nothing would be more memorable than Allar returning home to Cleveland and being the franchise savior.

The Browns have not been able to find a franchise quarterback since they returned in 1999. If the hometown kid can be the savior, then there is a good chance Allar will want to enter the 2025 draft.
