Can Drew Allar Lead Penn State Football to the Playoff? Heisman Hopes Rising for Nittany Lions’ QB

Drew Allar, Penn State Football

Penn State Football has gotten off to a great season, starting the year with a 6-0 record, and much of that has to do with their quarterback Drew Allar.

Allar has improved a lot as a passer under the new offensive coordinator, Andy Kotelnicki, who has turned the Nittany Lions offense from being slow and boring to flashy and one of the best offenses in college football.

The Nittany Lions are expected to be one of the 12 playoff teams this season, and anything can happen when they get into the dance.

Still, before a playoff game is played, the best player in college football will be awarded the Heisman Trophy, and Allar has put himself into that conversation.

Bleacher Report’s David Kenyon published an article titled B/R’s 2024 Heisman Trophy Rankings: Make-or-Break Moments in Busy Week 8 Slate and had Allar under the category Tier Three: On the Radar: when it comes to his Heisman odds.

Even though Allar is in Tier Three, Kenyon was high on the Penn State quarterback and stated, “Bit of a love/hate situation for Allar. He threw for a career-high 391 yards with two touchdowns in a dramatic overtime win at USC. Allar also matched his career total of interceptions with three giveaways in those 60-plus minutes. The important part is Penn State improved to 6-0, keeping Allar squarely in the chase.”

How Drew Allar Can Change Heisman Trajectory, Elevate Penn State’s Season

Allar will have a significant chance at a Heisman moment when Penn State welcomes Ohio State in a few weeks.

If he pulls off an excellent performance and a win, the Nittany Lions should head to the Big Ten title game and face Oregon, where he can put up another Heisman moment.
