How to Watch Happy Valley Hoopers Take on Pitt Alumni in TBT Regional Finals
In perhaps a matchup The Basketball Tournament (TBT) could only dream of, Happy Valley Hoopers, Penn State‘s Alumni Team battles The Zoo Crew, the University of Pittsburgh’s Alumni Team in the regional final.
While former NBA player DeJuan Blair is out for the Zoo Crew, former Panther star Mike Young leads this team of Pittsburgh alumni. Happy Valley may have received a break as Zoo Crew starter Jamel Artis was listed as ‘out’ by TBT yesterday. Izaiah Brockington, who joined Happy Valley Monday after missing the first game, is listed as questionable for tonight’s game.
In their first two round wins, Happy Valley stuck with the same starting lineup: Sam Sessoms, Myreon Jones, Curtis Jones Jr., Greg Lee and John Harrar. Joining Brockington as crucial players off the bench are Trent Buttrick and Qudus Wahab.
TBT is a one million-dollar winner take all tournament. Teams are required to self-fund to participate. If you are able to donate to the Happy Valley Hoopers cause, please do so here.
Evan Smith is an alum of Penn State (Marketing, Economics, 2011) and a basketball season ticket holder since 2006.
NittanyCentral is his second reporting job following the Men's Basketball program. He co-founded and co-hosts the Shots Gotta Fall - The Penn State Basketball Podcast (the premiere, the best, the only) with Steve Travis.
Smith's most proud moment covering the team was seeing the national No. 9 ranking during Pat Chambers' last year. His most embarrassing moment was spending almost a thousand dollars to travel 2,000 miles in 46 hours to watch the Nittany Lions lose to Temple in the 2011 NCAA Tournament (screw you Juan Fernandez).
