Penn State Football head coach James Franklin met with the press for his weekly press conference Monday afternoon ahead of the Nittany Lions‘ top-five matchup with Ohio State this Saturday.

In the press conference, Franklin was extremely complimentary of Ohio State, noting that the Buckeyes are “one of the most talented teams in the country, year in and year out.”

For that reason, Franklin took the opportunity in the press conference to make a plea to fans regarding Penn State’s environment in Beaver Stadium Saturday.

Beaver Stadium is known for having one of the best home environments. In all of college football year in and year out. In EA Sports College Football 25 video game, Beaver Stadium ranks number two in the country in home-field advantage in all of college football. Ahead of the game, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit also called out Penn State for having the “BEST student section in college football” ahead of ESPN’s College Gameday’s appearance at Penn State Ohio State this weekend. Herbstreit further noted that “when Ohio State comes to town [the atmosphere] goes to another level!”

James Franklin understands that Penn State’s crowd can give Penn State a significant home-field advantage this weekend.

Franklin took the opportunity during his weekly press conference to remind fans that Penn State is “going to need a great environment” this weekend against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Franklin continued with a plea to fans to help the Nittany Lions this weekend.

“We need this place rocking,” Franklin said. “No matter what time the game is, we need a great environment. We need everybody in the stadium early, rocking. Everybody standing and screaming on third down and critical downs and possessions. It’s going to be an all-hands-on-deck game.”

Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer knows just how much of an advantage Penn State’s home crowd can be, noting in the past that Penn State’s whiteout was worth as much as a ten-point swing in a game.

While Fox’s Big Noon kickoff time has ruined the chance for a whiteout against Ohio State this season, James Franklin and Penn State still understand that the Penn State crowd could create a large advantage for Penn State this weekend.
