Tuesday, Duke head coach and former Penn State Football defensive coordinator Manny Diaz announced the hiring of a Nittany Lions defensive assistant, Rick Lyster, as Duke’s safeties coach.
Lyster had worked with Diaz on the Penn State staff for the past two seasons at Penn State and at the University of Miami before Diaz was hired as PSU defensive coordinator.
Lyster was a defensive analyst and analytics coordinator in an off-field role for Penn State the past two seasons and will follow Diaz to Durham.
What Penn State Football Loses in Lyster
According to Matt Zenith of 247Sports, Lyster joins former Pennsylvania high school head coach and Temple assistant Gabe Infante in following Diaz to Duke.
Infante was also a defensive analyst for the Nittany Lions for Diaz’s two-year tenure as defensive coordinator. Diaz is building a coaching staff of familiar faces to Penn State Football fans.
