Penn State Football will open the 2023 football season at home under the lights at 7:30pm on September 2nd.
The Nittany Lions host the West Virginia Mountaineers on the opening weekend of the season, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. inside Beaver Stadium. Penn State made the start time official today, which can be watched on NBC, one of the new channels to watch Big Ten football on under the new TV deal.
The hype around this upcoming season is palpable and kicking the season off under the lights only adds to that hype.
It’s a game the Nittany Lions should be favored in, and fans will get their first look at 5-star talent Drew Allar. How Allar handles the excitement of his first career start being under the lights will be something to watch.

Trying to predict the future is never a good idea, but Penn State should enter the game as a Top 15 team.
Preseason rankings are usually useless, but the 2023 Nittany Lions have a chance to make some noise in the Big Ten.
Allar and company could put the conference on notice with a strong performance in Week 1.
For fans, this is a best case scenario. The game being in early September means weather will still be warm, and as long as Mother Nature plays nice and keeps the rain away, tailgating could be the best of the year.
Will this be Penn State’s whiteout?
We will find out. It’s only 119 days until week 1.
