247Sports annouced its final transfer portal rankings for the class of 2026, and Penn State Football’s Ben Brahmer earned the top spot at tight end.
The Nittany Lions were very active in the portal, signing close to 40 players in Matt Campbell‘s first year as coach.
Last year at Iowa State, Brahmer was a semifinalist for the Mackey Award.
Brahmer was a Second-Team All-Conference selection after leading the Cyclones with 37 catches for 446 yards (12.1 yards per catch) and a team-high six touchdown receptions.
The Portal Crown: Ben Brahmer Claims the Nation’s No. 1 Transfer Tight End Ranking

One of the biggest advantages Brahmer brings is his comfort within Matt Campbell and coordinator Taylor Mouser’s offense.
Since Brahmer already played under both coaches at Iowa State, there should be little learning curve at Penn State.
That familiarity could allow him to become an immediate contributor and reliable target for quarterback Rocco Becht from day one. His chemistry with Becht also cannot be overlooked.
The two have already developed a strong connection at Iowa State, and that familiarity could help Penn State’s passing game find rhythm early in the season.

Red-Zone Nightmare: How Brahmer’s 6-Foot-7 Frame Changes Penn State’s Offense
Brahmer immediately gives Penn State a massive target in the passing game at 6-foot-7 and around 259 pounds. His size creates matchup problems against linebackers and safeties, especially near the goal line and on third down. His size also creates opportunities for the rest of the offense.
Defenses may need to dedicate extra attention toward him near the goal line, which could open up more space for Penn State’s receivers and running backs.
Opening Space for the Nittany Lions’ Wide Receivers
Penn State is adding a player who has already produced at a high level in major college football.
Brahmer recorded 75 career receptions for 977 yards and nine touchdowns during his Iowa State career, giving the Nittany Lions an experienced veteran in a young tight end room.
His experience should help stabilize the offense early in the season. Also, his veteran presence should help the younger tight end room continue to develop.
Penn State Football has consistently produced NFL-caliber tight ends, and Brahmer’s experience could help continue that tradition while giving the offense a dependable option right away.
