Penn State Football Final Bold Predictions for 2025 Season
Penn State Football’s 2025 campaign could go down as one of the best in the history of the program. The No. 2 Nittany Lions return many players and are one of the favorites to win the national championship.
With the season quickly approaching, Chris Snyder and I put together bold predictions for the season.
Penn State Football Bold Predictions for 2025 Season
Bold Prediction No. 1: Penn State’s Offense will average over 465 yards per game (Snyder)
Now, you might be asking yourself, “Why on earth is this a bold prediction, Chris?”. And that’s a valid question.
In this day and age of high-tempo, spread offenses in college football, averaging 465+ yards per game doesn’t seem that crazy. Heck, eight teams eclipsed 465 yards on offense just last year.
But let me ask you this: When was the last time a Nittany Lion offense achieved that? Because Penn State Football fans have seen some pretty good offenses just in the last decade.
This includes offenses led by Trace McSorely, Saquon Barkley, Chris Godwin, DaeSean Hamilton, and Mike Gesicki. And then there was the group of Sean Clifford, Journey Brown, KJ Hamler, Jahan Dotson, and Pat Freiermuth shortly after. Which then led to the quintet of Sean Clifford, Nick Singleton, Kaytron Allen, Parker Washington, and Tyler Warren.
Well, here’s the answer: The last time a Penn State offense averaged at least 465 yards per game was 31 years ago.
That’s right, perhaps the most well balanced and one of the best offenses in college football history was the last time. It’s hard to believe 1994 was that long ago. But, regardless of what Bryan Johnson believes, Father Time is undefeated.
The reason I think this will happen is simple:
Andy Kotelnicki will be in his second year as Offensive Coordinator
Penn State returns a ton of studs on offense
The trio of Hudson, Ross, and Pena will produce
Combine all of that together and you will see an even more wide-open playbook led by a super experienced quarterback, an explosive backfield, playmaking wide receivers, all playing behind a good offensive line.
That sounds like a recipe for success to me.
Bold Prediction No. 2: Penn State will go on the road and beat Ohio State (Snyder)

I mean, this has to be the year, right?
It’s been seven games and nine years since Grant Haley returned a blocked kick in Beaver Stadium to give the Nittany Lions a thrilling 24-21 win over the Buckeyes.
And prior to that it took an unceremonious firing of Jim Tressel to pave the way for Luke Fickell’s underwhelming interim stint in 2011. That season the Buckeyes slogged their way to a 6-7 record which represented OSU’s first losing season since 1988. Additionally, Penn State snagged a win in Columbus that year.
Assuming you were both breathing oxygen and a Penn State Football fan in 2005, I’m sure you remember that win.
So to summarize, Penn State Football has exactly three wins against Ohio State in the last 23 years.
Which is why this is a bold prediction that the Nittany Lions will lose yet again to the Buckeyes 10 weeks from now.
Wait … what?
Yep, you read that correctly. My true bold prediction is that Penn State will lose in Columbus for the seventh straight time.
As with my first bold prediction, you’re probably asking the exact same question.
I’ve lost my marbles.
Maybe …
Well, considering a large portion of the Penn State Football fanbase expects to beat Ohio State every single year, this would technically qualify as a bold prediction.
But I’ll take it a step further.

I’m sitting here on August 27, 2025, and regardless of any impactful injuries or suspensions or anything else that could decimate the Buckeyes’ squad, I’m saying they will win.
I don’t care if, between now and then Kaytron Allen gets bitten by a radioactive spider. Or if LaHeisman Transfer Portal V joins the team. Mark it down as an “L”.
Because regardless of the year, regardless of the coaches, and regardless of the players, Penn State loses to Ohio State.
Some might say this is just a “loser’s mentality”.
Hey, that’s fine. You are entitled to your opinion. To me it falls more in line with “realistic”.
Ohio State recruits at a higher level than Penn State; they have better facilities, and they have a significantly higher NIL budget.
Combine this with a 3-20 record against them in the last 23 contests, and I have no clue how anyone can expect Penn State to win. I get it if you “hope” the Nittany Lions win. Because that’s 100% different.
While I’m at it, I’ll throw out another bold prediction: Even though I wrote a wall of words to the contrary, the Nittany Lions will not lose to Ohio State next year.
Cash me out.
Bold Prediction No. 3: Drew Allar will find himself in New York (Fisher)

Penn State returns starting quarterback Drew Allar for a third straight season. There was a lot of speculation before last season that Allar would leave Happy Valley for the NFL Draft at year’s end.
However, an underwhelming season led him to return to college for the 2025 season.
Allar lost starting tight end Tyler Warren to the NFL, but brought in three transfer receivers: Kyron Hudson, Devonte Ross, and Trebor Pena.
The three receivers bring a wealth of experience to a Nittany Lions offense that is seeking more production from that room. Allar is one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the country, appearing in 39 games.
With all the new offensive help, Allar’s game should be able to take off.
Many times, a quarterback makes a jump from year two to three, and this time it could be Allar. If Allar can leap, there’s a chance he will be in New York this December for the Heisman Trophy ceremony.
Penn State’s schedule is easy enough for him to put up big-time numbers. He also gets to play against Oregon and Ohio State, both teams that could win the national championship. Every Heisman winner usually has a few big games against great teams, and Oregon and Ohio State could be Allar‘s Heisman-type moments.
It will be hard for Allar to win the award. But if he has Penn State in the playoffs and one of the top four seeds, there’s a chance Allar will see the Big Apple around Christmas time.

Bold Prediction No. 4: Penn State Wins the Big Ten (Fisher)

The Nittany Lions haven’t won the Big Ten title since 2016. But things are about to change.
The team played in the Big Ten title game last year but fell to Oregon in a heartbreaker. Penn State was still able to make the playoffs and reach the semi-finals. The Nittany Lions are looking for more this season by beating both Oregon and Ohio State in the regular season and seeing one of them again in the Big Ten Championship Game.
Ohio State lost many players from its title team to the NFL. Oregon also lost several players from its 13-0 Big Ten regular-season and championship game team last year.
All the arrows are pointing for Penn State to win the Big Ten title again this season.
