Penn State Football Survives Scare vs. Bowling Green, 34-27 | Instant Analysis

Penn State Football started slowly on defense, as Bowling Green dictated to Tom Allen’s unit for most of the first half, before ultimately surviving the Falcons’ upset bid when Nick Singleton sprinted 41-yards for the game-winning touchdown in the contest’s final moments.

The Nittany Lions‘ defense appeared sluggish, possibly suffering from both a figurative and literal hangover, forcing the offense to bail them out for the first time in a while.

Mistakes and penalties plagued PSU throughout the game, but the rushing attack was dominant, with Allen and Singleton combining for 220 yards, and tight end Tyler Warren leading the receiving corps with 146 yards.

In the second half, the defense flipped a switch, forcing two interceptions and shutting down Bowling Green, while the offense delivered several big plays to secure the win.

It wasn’t pretty, and Coach James Franklin wasn’t in the mood to elaborate much during his post-game press conference.

The focus now shifts to discipline and ensuring the Nittany Lions don’t turn in a performance like this again as the tougher part of the season approaches.
