Amidst a sprint to the finish line in the transfer portal, Penn State Football is still working to redeem the class of 2026. Yesterday, Georgia native, Christian Askew announced his commitment to Penn State during his official visit.
Askew is a 6-4 Safety from football rich Georgia. Prior to committing to Penn State, Askew was released from his letter of intent to James Madison. Recently NittanyCentral caught up with Askew to discuss his commitment to Penn State.
“After reopening my recruitment after and deciding to move on from my previous commitment to JMU, Penn State quickly separated itself from the rest.” Askew said. “The leadership within the program, especially from Coach Campbell, really stood out to me. I’ve built a strong relationship with Coach Dropp and Coach Terry, who have been consistently recruiting and supporting me since my junior year. I love the facilities and the campus, and the program continues to improve at a high level. Penn State also offers strong academics and a family-oriented environment, which made it the right place for me to grow both as a player and as a person.”

Askew Describes “Genuine Bond”
Askew made it clear that the family bond at Penn State is special.
“What stood out most was the genuine bond I was able to build with the coaching staff.” Askew stated. “From the moment I arrived, they made me feel welcomed and at home. The environment was very positive, and they showed a lot of hospitality. It felt like a place where relationships truly matter.”
How does Askew see himself as a player?
“I would describe my game as versatile and flexible. I’m a defensive back who can line up at safety, corner, or nickel, and I take pride in understanding each role and executing at a high level.” Askew said. “My size, athleticism, and football IQ allow me to adapt to different coverages and responsibilities within the defense.”
Matt Campbell and D’Anton Lynn will certainly love Askew’s versatility and size in Happy Valley.
