Penn State football finally got back in the win column for the first time since September with a 28-10 win over the Michigan State Spartans. The victory was monumental for at least one reason; it was the first career win for Penn State interim head coach Terry Smith.
The Nittany Lions also retained the infamous Land Grant Trophy in the Michigan State series. In the win, two Penn State players also moved closer to breaking Penn State career records.
As the 2025 season began, both Penn State starting running backs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen were on record watch as the dynamic duo each started the season within reach of Penn State’s career rushing yards record.
While Singleton’s effectiveness has dropped off this season, Allen still is squarely in the hunt for Evan Royster’s career record.
Penn State Football Record Watch Heats Up as Season Winds Down

Kaytron Allen Moves Within 138 Yards of Penn State’s All-Time Rushing Record
Last Saturday, Kaytron Allen had a career day on the ground.
Allen carried the ball 25 times against the Spartans for 181 yards and two touchdowns. This Herculean effort puts Allen only 138 yards away from Evan Royster’s career record of 3,932 career rushing yards at Penn State.
On the 2025 season, Allen has rushed for 912 yards and 12 touchdowns. Over his four year Penn State career, Allen has accumulated 3,794 rushing yards (3rd all-time behind Royster and Saquon Barkley) and 36 rushing touchdowns (4th all-time at Penn State).
Allen is averaging 91.7 rushing yards per game this season, leaving him well within reach of the record with two (maybe three) games to go in his Penn State career.
Dani Dennis-Sutton Ties Penn State’s Single-Season Blocked Punt Record
Dani Dennis-Sutton is a surprising addition to this career record watch list, because Dennis-Sutton could tie or break an all-time career record in just one season.
On Saturday against the Spartans, Dennis-Sutton blocked his third punt of the season, tying the Penn State record for blocked punts in a season.
With one more blocked punt, Dennis-Sutton could tie the Penn State career record for blocked punts in a career.
On the 2025 season, Dennis-Sutton has accumulated 31 tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, five sacks, and three forced fumbles. In his Penn State career, the former five-star defensive end has racked up 31 tackles for a loss and 20 sacks and seven forced fumbles.
With two games to go, Dennis-Sutton needs just one more punt block to cement his name in the record books.

Nick Singleton Still Within Reach of Saquon Barkley’s All-Time Touchdown Marks

Nick Singleton’s 2025 season has been less than stellar, with the senior being relegated to backup duty after spending the first 3.5 years of his Penn State career sharing starting snaps with Kaytron Allen.
However, despite the regression this season, Singleton is still within reach of a Penn State career record.
Through 51 games, Nick Singleton has accumulated 41 career rushing touchdowns and 50 all purpose touchdowns. Both of these numbers sit second all-time in Penn State’s record books behind legendary running back Saquon Barkley.
Singleton sits two rushing touchdowns and one all-purpose touchdown behind Barkley. With two games remaining on the season, both of these records are within reach for Singleton.
