Penn State Fotball added another addition from the transfer portal with Florida State WR Malik McClain joining the Nittany Lions for 2023.
McClain was a 4-star recruit out of IMG academy for the 2020 recruiting class. The wide receiver was ranked 283rd nationally and 40th in the state of Florida.
The 6-foot-4 receiver appeared in 25 games for the Seminoles and caught 33 passes for 396 yards and 5 touchdowns. McClain played in all 13 of Florida State’s games in 2022 catching 17 passes for 206 yards and 3 touchdowns.

James Franklin wanted to address the weakest position of the offense this offseason with the firing of WR Coach Taylor Stubblefield and pickups of 2 4-star WR in the portal.
Prior to adding McClain, former Kent State WR Dante Cephas transferred to the Lions, adding a game-altering weapon to quarterback Drew Allar’s supporting cast.
McClain will give Penn State Football some more size at the position and another potential red zone threat for Drew Allar. He has 2 years of eligibility remaining.
