Penn State Football was close to having a different type of conversation today after being pushed into a corner by Bowling Green before pulling out the win in the second half.
While Penn State’s defense as a whole struggled in the first half, and the offensive line struggled in pass protection for most of the game, there were plenty of bright spots for Penn State Football to take away from the matchup.
Here are three players of the game and one MVP from Saturday’s game against Bowling Green.
MVP: Tony Rojas
Linebacker Tony Rojas may have saved the game for Penn State Saturday. With Penn State up by 3 points in the fourth quarter and Bowling Green moving the ball down the field, Rojas caught a fantastic interception to give Penn State back the ball.
In addition to the interception late in the fourth quarter, Rojas had five tackles (two solo), including a few key tackles in the run game around the line of scrimmage, and a pass defended in the game for Penn State.

Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen
For the second week in a row, Penn State’s running game shined bright for Penn State.
Saturday, Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen combined for 220 yards on 27 carries and one touchdown on the ground.
Singleton also added a 14-yard touchdown catch through the air for Penn State. Singleton’s 41-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter ended up being the winning score as well. The duo averaged 8.14 yards per rush on the ground and both had explosive runs over 25 yards in the game.

Tyler Warren
Penn State’s tight ends have been excellent in recent history, with three Nittany Lion tight ends being selected in the past decade in the second round of the NFL draft.
However, Tyler Warren did something no other tight end in Penn State history has done Saturday, racking up 146 yards on eight catches.
Warren was Penn State starting quarterback Drew Allar’s favorite target Saturday, and the only Nittany Lion with more than two catches in the game. Warren averaged 18.3 yards per catch Saturday and displayed the versatility and athleticism that makes him the “most complete tight end in the country” according to Penn State head coach James Franklin.
Penn State has plenty to clean up out of Saturday’s win, but unlike Notre Dame, Iowa, Kansas, and Georgia Tech, the Nittany Lions are able to make corrections after a win. Penn State has plenty of talent shining through and will take next week’s bye to make corrections before playing Kent State in two weeks.
