Penn State Football put the 2024 recruiting class in the books on Wednesday with the early signing period opening.
The Nittany Lions secured the signature of all 25 of their commits and will now focus on recruiting the transfer portal and Peach Bowl game prep.
Before moving on completely, let’s take a look at the main takeaways from the 2024 class.
Penn State Football National Signing Day Takeaways
Building through the trenches
Penn State landed a second consecutive talented class on the offensive line.
Last year, offensive line coach Phil Trautwein brought in one 5-star and three 4-stars, this year, he added three 4-stars and two 3-stars. He’s added a lot of talent to the room in a very short time.
First-year defensive line coach Deion Barnes also had a nice haul.
Barnes brought in two big-body 4-star defensive tackles in Liam Andrews and T.A. Cunningham. Joining them on the interior are De’Andre Cook and Xavier Gilliam.
Meanwhile, at defensive end, Barnes grabbed two 4-stars in Mylachi Williams and Jaylen Harvey.

Penn State Football Adds Offensive Stars
New offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki should be excited about three offensive pieces coming in this class.
Quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer is rated as the No. 8 quarterback in the class and looks like the possible replacement to Drew Allar down the line.
Joining him is elite tight end Luke Reynolds.
The No. 1 tight end in the nation, Reynolds has a chance to be the next great Penn State tight end. He’s more of the Mike Gesicki split-out wide, athletic type than the Brenton Strange, hand down on the line mold, but his athleticism will make him a tough matchup for defenses.
Finally, there’s running back Quinton Martin.
The top 100 recruit is a versatile athlete who could see time in the slot and in the return game next season with Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen both expected back for 2024.
These three have a chance to be the future super stars of the Penn State Football offense.
Relationships Matter
The Nittany Lions had eight decommitments in the 2023 class, that changed in 2024.
Penn State Football had only one decommit in the class, and it was Deryc Plazz, who was committed for less than a week before flipping to Miami.
Considering Penn State lost both of its coordinators this offseason, it is somewhat surprising that not a single commit waivered in his commitment to the Nittany Lions.
This was as locked in as we’ve ever seen from a recruiting class under James Franklin.
Franklin and his staff clearly has the trust of their commits and that goes a long way in recruiting.
