Penn State Football Key Contributor Makes Shocking Transfer Portal Decision As College Football Playoff Looms
According to Matt Zenitz, Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula will enter the transfer portal. Meanwhile, On3’s Peter Nakos also reported that Pribula will not play in the College Football Playoff for the Nittany Lions, including Penn State’s first-round game against SMU this Saturday.
Pribula was Penn State’s backup quarterback the past two years as well as a gadget player for the Nittany Lions over the past two seasons. Pribula passed for 424 yards and nine touchdowns and rushed for 571 yards and 10 touchdowns over the past two seasons for the Nittany Lions.
Pribula’s absence for the College Football Playoff leaves Penn State in a very tough position if Allar goes down with an injury at any point.
Penn State’s new backup quarterback, true freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer has yet to see a collegiate snap after enrolling earlier this year as a four-star recruit in the 2024 class.
Pribula is expected to be one of the most desired quarterbacks in the transfer portal this offseason. Penn State is still awaiting an NFL decision from starting quarterback Drew Allar, although Pribula’s decision could hint toward Allar’s return in 2025.
