In two weeks, Penn State Football will be halfway through their season. As time flies, one question looms large: who will move on to the NFL, and who will stay in Happy Valley?
Here are our way-too-early predictions, based on the season’s first month, on which offensive players will likely be eyeing the 2025 NFL Draft, and who might be earmarked for one more season in a Nittany Lions uniform. next fall.
Penn State Football Stay or Go: Offense
Drew Shelton (OL) – Go
Shelton has started in 2023 and excels in both run-blocking and pass-protection.
He’s vocal about his NFL aspirations and wants to use his platform to support underprivileged youth. As a reliable and experienced lineman, his position is in demand, making him likely to declare for the NFL.
Drew Allar (QB) – Stay
Drew Allar ranks 5th nationally in passing efficiency and leads the nation in deep-ball accuracy with a 63% completion rate on throws over 15 yards.
Averaging 216 yards per game and boasting an 8:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio, he’s 6th in overall QBR (87.5).
While he’s an elite talent, another season could elevate him from a second or third-round pick to a top-5 draft selection. How he handles Ohio State and possible playoff games will be crucial.
Nick Singleton (RB) – Go
Running backs have short careers, making Nick Singleton’s NFL timing critical.
With 2,221 career rushing yards, a 6.3 yards-per-carry average, and 28 total touchdowns, he’s in peak form. Singleton’s stock is high, and with a potentially record-breaking season, he’s expected to declare for the NFL—possibly as a first-round pick.
Kaytron Allen (RB) – Stay
Kaytron Allen has amassed 2,058 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns, with an average of 5.3 yards per carry.
While behind Singleton in visibility, he stands to become the team’s premier back if Singleton leaves, providing him a leadership role and a chance to boost his draft stock with another year in college.
Omari Evans (WR) – Go
Omari Evans has had a slower start to his Penn State career, tallying just 354 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns.
Though still developing into a deep threat, wide receivers often leave early to secure NFL contracts. Despite the inconsistency, Evans may decide it’s time to move on.

A former 5-star recruit, Nolan Rucci transferred from Wisconsin and is still honing his skills at right tackle. Though a position of high demand in the NFL, Rucci needs further development. His performance this season will determine whether he stays or declares.
