NFL Draft 2025: What Kevin Winston Adds for Tennessee Titans as 82nd Overall Pick

Penn State Football Safety Kevin Winston has been drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round, with the 82nd overall pick.

The Tennessee Titans are getting a very good value by taking Winston here. Winston is in my opinion, one of the more overlooked players by Penn State fans in recent years. It makes sense, considering the Nittany Lions truly only got one full season of Winston. In his collegiate career, Winston tallied 89 tackles while nabbing one interception and two fumble recoveries.

The 2024 season started off with a bang for Winston. In the week 1 game against West Virginia, he recorded 12 tackles. Winston was flying around the field. Unfortunately, in week 2 against Bowling Green, Winston went down with what turned out to be a long term, season ending injury.

With Kevin Winston’s knee now recovered, he was able to log an impressive pro day at Holuba Hall. Here are three things Kevin Winston brings to the Tennessee Titans.

Speed

Kevin Winston possesses great speed.

In Winston’s second ever 40 yard dash after his knee injury, he clocked a 4.50 time. This is impressive given he was only 7 months out from sustaining a torn ACL. Before the injury, his 40 time was probably much closer to 4.3 which is obviously “fast fast”.

If Winston can keep chipping his way back to his pre injury speed, he will have the chance to become an NFL star. Speed cannot be taught and Winston is a naturally fast player. As Winston regains speed, he will only continue to produce.

Length

Standing at 6-2 Kevin Winston has termendous size for the Safety position.

Winston is at the top end of the typical Safety height. This should have the Tennessee Titans excited about Winston. He uses his length to break up passes, shed blocks, and make tackles. While Winston’s play can at times be somewhat less instinctive, his measurables are there. Length is one of Winston’s best attributes.

Range

This is probably the most impressive thing about Kevin Winston to me. He has tremendous range.

If you turn on tape from the week 1 West Virginia game, Winston’s range will pop off the tape. He was all over the field making plays. He showed elite ability to get from one side of the field to the other and make plays. This is obviously a huge difference maker at the NFL level. Many Safeties cannot cover the amount of ground that Winston can.

Truly, Winston’s range is a product of his speed and length combined.

Winston brings a ton of upside and NFL potential to the Titans. I truly think Tennessee is getting a great pick in Kevin Winston.
