Will Penn State’s Elite Tight End Run Continue in the Class of 2027?

The weekend is almost upon us. For Penn State Football fans, and college football fans around the nation, this means college football is getting cl0ser. So, as we have been doing all week, we will continue to look at the Nittany Lions‘ 2027 recruiting outlook.

In case you missed it, I broke down where things stand with the 2027 Quarterbacks, 2027 Running Backs, and 2027 Wide Receivers earlier this week.

Here is how things look at Tight End in the class of 2027.

Does the Long Line of Elite Tight Ends Continue?

Penn State Football and James Franklin have had no problem bringing in elite Tight Ends.

In the past two recruiting cycles, they have been able to bring in two 5-star prospects in Luke Reynolds, and Andrew Olesh. In the 2026 cycle, Ty Howle has 4-star Pierce Petersohn pledged. He looks like another elite Tight End prospect. That is not to mention the run of Mike Gesecki, Pat Freiermuth, Brenton Strange, Theo Johnson, Tyler Warren, and likely Khalil Dinkins. Penn State has had flaws in their past. Tight End production is not one of them.

But will this trend continue in 2027? Well, who knows, but Penn State has some strong prospects to continue that great Tight End tradition.

The main name that keeps coming up at Tight End in the 2027 cycle is Seneca Driver. Driver is a 6 foot 7 inch Kentucky product. He is rated as an ON3 Industry 4-star, top 100 prospect. Seneca Driver has a lot of good programs tangled up in his recruitment. He has been to Auburn, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and several other schools. In June Driver camped at Penn State. I would expect the Nittany Lions to be heavily involved with Seneca Driver in this cycle. He is a prospect that has the chance to continue the Tight End legacy at Penn State.

Who are Some Other 2027 Tight End Recruits?

Obviously, Penn State is not recruiting only Seneca Driver at Tight End. With the cycle as young as it is, the Tight End board is wide open. Frankly, it is early and thus hard to tell where all of these prospects fall on Penn State Football’s Tight End board. Furthermore, there is a chance the Tight End(s) Penn State takes in this cycle have yet to pop up yet. It is still early, but here are some other Tight Ends on the radar in 2027.

North Carolina dual sport athlete, Jaxon Dollar is a highly sought out Tight End in this recruiting cycle. He is being recruited by some SEC heavy hitters, as well as teams like Penn State and Notre Dame. The basketball and football standout has a ton of good offers. I’m not entirely sure how much or how little Dollar likes Penn State, but they are involved.

Additionally, some other prospects to look out for are Brock Williams, Jack Brown, and Titus Hawk.
