Penn State Football Prospect Likes Nittany Lions, Models Game After Abdul Carter [EXCLUSIVE]

Four-Star, 2027 Edge Rusher Mekai Brown, is high on the priority list for Penn State Football recruiting.

The 6-6, 230-pound force from Connecticut discussed his recruitment and who he looks up to with NittanyCentral.

“I like to model a lot of my stuff from a man, I’m sure you know very well, Abdul Carter.” Brown told NittanyCentral. “This offseason, I was really studying him, some of his moves and stuff.” Brown also mentioned modeling his game after Micah Parsons. “Watching those two, and breaking down their film and applying it in everything I do.”

Applying pass-rushing techniques from Micah Parsons and Abdul Carter turns out to be pretty successful. In Brown’s opening game, he logged 8 Quarterback hurries and 1.5 sacks. Brown aims to continue the dominance throughout his Junior year.

Penn State is high on Brown’s list, and loves what he’s seeing from not just head coach James Franklin, but new coordinator Jim Knowles’ defense.

“They’re definitely doing their thing,” Brown said in regard to how Penn State is recruiting him. “They’ve been very good with getting a lot of their staff to reach out… Even every now and then, I get a text from the Head Coach.”

Brown was able to make it on a visit to watch Penn State defeat Nevada in the season opener, and he was invited to the Whiteout game too, but can’t make it.

“I actually have a game that day,” Brown said. “They sent me the whole, like, gold ticket thing as well, I was like ‘damn'”

After visiting Penn State earlier this season, Brown plans to visit USC, Rutgers, and Florida.

“I’m just looking to go where the best fit is for me,” Brown says.

Penn State will certainly be involved with the 4-star Edge Rusher, and he is one to keep tabs on throughout the fall.
