Penn State Football Cracks St. Joe’s Prep Pipeline Again With 2026 DL Alex Haskell
Penn State Football has landed yet another defensive commitment, Friday, as Alex Haskell announced his commitment to Penn State. Marking the third defender the Nittany Lions have picked up this week.
Alex Haskell is an ON3 Industry three-star. He attends Pennsylvania High School football power, St. Joseph’s Prep in Pjiladelphia.
Historically, Penn State Football has had a hard time tapping into St. Joe’s, but after signing Cameron Smith in the class of 2025, and Haskell committing, it looks like that could be changing.
Alex Haskell chose Penn State over Michigan, Syracuse, and Duke
What Does Alex Haskell Bring to Penn State’s 2026 Class?

Alex Haskell is one of Penn State Football’s top targets in the class of 2026. Landing Haskell is a huge development for the Defensive Line in this class. He likely projects as an interior Defensive Lineman, along with Isaac Chukwurah.
Haskell played a lot of Defensive End for St. Joe’s this past season. However, he projects as an interior guy. At 6-4, 240, Haskell will have to add some weight between now and his first snaps at Penn State, however, once he does, he will be a force to be reckoned with.
The Philly native, may lack top-end quickness and get off, which could be why he projects as a Defensive Tackle, however, what he lacks in quickness, he makes up in strength. Alex Haskell is a man. On his film, he can flat-out move people. Haskell uses his strength to quickly shed blocks and thump ball carriers. The strength Haskell plays with is one of his most elite traits.
On top of strength, Alex Haskell also brings a tenacity. He is ferocious.
Watching Haskell’s film, it just felt like watching an angry bulldog go to work. He has a good motor and seeks the ball well to go along with that tenacity. So, he is not a bull in a china shop tenacious, he is instinctively tenacious. This tenacity is key in a Defensive Tackle.

What is Next for Penn State Football Recruiting?
After landing Alex Haskell and Mathieu Lamah this week, Penn State Football Recruiting is in a really good spot. They hold 16 pledges and have been on an absolute tear on the recruiting trail. Those 16 commits are good for fourth in the nation according to 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

What to expect next is official visit season.
Top target, Khary Adams tells me he has moved his official visit up to next week, May 16th. That is big for Penn State. Top targets, and close friends, Joey O’Brien and Khary Adams will be on campus at the same time. That is something Penn State has been wanting for a long time and it has came to fruition.
