Penn State Football’s momentum on the recruiting trail is at avalanche levels, as the staff just received their 19th commitment for the 2027 class.
This staff has made its intentions of making the Garden State a new pipeline clear, and it looks like the floodgates are open with back-to-back New Jersey commitments. This time it’s at the tight end position.
Garden State Avalanche: Sean Currie Marks Commit No. 19 for Penn State in 2027

Sean Currie is a 6-foot-7 and 235-pound superior multi-sport athlete out of Lawrenceville School, in New Jersey’s capital of Trenton and the newest Nittany Lions tight end.
NittanyCentral recently sat down with the Garden State pass catcher, and he explained why Penn State stood out and what it meant to have a coach like Taylor Mouser also be the offensive coordinator.
“It definitely means something having my TE coach also be the offensive coordinator,” Currie told NittanyCentral. “Coach Mouser and I have already talked about how much he trusts his TE, and in big moments, he wants the ball in their hands. That’s something that really stands out to me.”
One of the first missions offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser went on when hired at Penn State, was connecting with Currie, who at the time was committed to UVA.
Weeks later, Currie officially decommitted, and the overall vibe was that the 3-star recruit would end up in Happy Valley.
However, just like all recruitments these days, there were ups and downs.
Inside the Hacky Sack Flip: How Taylor Mouser’s ‘A-Team’ Beat Out Ohio State and Texas A&M

Once Currie made himself open to being recruited, again Penn State wasn’t the only big program that was vying for Currie’s pledge.
Ohio State quickly became a real player, and Texas A&M captured his attention, as well.
Over the spring, Currie visited all three programs, and at that moment, it really was a dog fight with any outcome not surprising.
That all changed May 7th, when, just like with Will Wood, Penn State Football sent the A-team to New Jersey and took Currie out to dinner.
Running backs coach Savon Huggins, quarterbacks coach Jake Waters, and offensive coordinator Tyler Mouser shared a meal, and over a game of hacky sack, turned the tide and Penn State had won the tight end over.
Now, Currie will join the already committed 4-star Cooper Terwilliger next season in what is quickly becoming a potentially dominant tight end room in State College.
