Penn State Football has found its quarterback, as Will Wood has officially committed and plans to make State College his new home.
“I fell in love with the staff and the culture that Coach Campbell is building,” Wood tells NittanyCentral. “They made me a priority and I felt that they truly believe they can win a championship with me.”
The 4-star signal caller out of Xaverian Brothers HS in Massachusetts was deciding between Arkansas, Boston College, and Penn State.
The Future Signal-Caller: Will Wood Commits to Penn State Football

Wood is entering his senior season and will be competing for his fourth straight state title as well.
Numbers-wise, you aren’t going to find a more impressive quarterback stat sheet for the 2025 season.
Wood had over 2800 yards with 42 touchdowns and only one interception. The efficiency stands out, but so does his big-game winner mentality.
The Gillette Stadium Masterclass
Twice last season, Wood went up against 2028 5-star quarterback Chris Vargas and both times walked away with a win.
The most recent was the state championship game at Gillette Stadium. In that game, Wood finished 11-16 with 345 yards and five touchdowns.
Penn State Football was linked to two quarterbacks during this cycle, both from the state of Massachusetts. Both have high ceilings and great potential.
Wood played against tougher competition, had much better on-field production, is two years younger, and financially much more realistic. That’s not the only determining factor, though.
Why Coach Waters Pulled the Trigger: Age, Production, and the “It” Factor

Most importantly, Wood is a gamer.
When Wood’s competition rose, he got better.
Going head-to-head with a 5-star QB and beating him twice while also being the best player on the field matters.
Wood’s ability to always rise to the occasion is a trait that cannot be taught and is often referred to as the “It” factor.
Inside the Recruitment: Fending Off Bill O’Brien and Boston College
It wasn’t an easy recruiting win for Nittany Lions quarterbacks coach Jake Waters and Penn State. Boston College was a real contender to win his pledge.
Wood lives 11 miles away from campus, and his strong relationship with Head Coach Bill O’Brien had him seriously considering becoming an Eagle.
When asked if he would be canceling his upcoming official visits elsewhere now that he’s off the market, Wood was direct.
“No, only Penn State, I’m locked in.”
