Philly LB Zykee Scott Brings ‘Grit’ to Penn State Football Whiteout Visit, Names Top Contenders [EXCLUSIVE]

In what proves to be one of the biggest Penn State Football recruiting weekends of the entire year, the Whiteout game is upon us.

Over the years, the Nittany Lions have been able to capitalize on having one of the best atmospheres in football for the sake of recruiting. This year will be no different.

In-state, 2027 Linebacker Zykee Scott of LaSalle College High School is one of many prospects set to attend the Whiteout, and he is looking forward to it.

“I can’t wait for it.” Scott told NittanyCentral.

The Pennsylvania Linebacker has several offers on the table, but three stick out to him.

“It’s really like a three-way tie.” Scott said of his recruitment. “[Between] Tennessee, Oregon, and Penn State.” Scott also mentioned hearing from Nebraska, where he recently visited and North Carolina.

Philly “Grit” Helps Mold Scott

Scott is teammates with Penn State top targets, and Notre Dame commits, Joey O’Brien, and Grayson Mckeogh.

Both O’Brien and Mckeogh are firmly committed to Notre Dame, but surely Penn State keeps in touch with them.

LaSalle’s star-studded roster, which also features Missouri commit, Gavin Sidwar are of to a hot 4-0 start on the season.

Scott is in his first year at LaSalle, after transferring from fellow Pennsylvania powerhouse, Imhotep. This transition can come as a challenge to many, but not for Scott.

“It was really easy.” Scott said describing the move from Imhotep to LaSalle. “Everybody welcomed me with open arms. It felt cool. Everything went well.”

Scott has carved out a nice introduction for himself on the football field. Through his first four games at LaSalle, he has logged 27 tackles, 3 TFL’s, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble.

Scott credits a lot of his football success to his upbringing in north Philadelphia.

“I feel like that’s where I get a lot of my grit from.” Scott said. “North Philly, it’s not a city for everybody. It’s a city where you have to have tough[ness] and grit… I feel like having tough[ness] and grit can carry over to football. That’s where I get my dawg from, it’s just a part of me.”
