Penn State Football has received more good news. Former Iowa State Wide Receiver, Chase Sowell announced his commitment to Penn State. The receiver out of Texas is set to follow Matt Campbell to Happy Valley for his senior year.
Sowell stands at 6-3, 210 pounds. Coming out of high school, Sowell committed to Coloarado where he redshirted in his freshman year. Following his time in Boulder, Sowell transfered to East Carolina.
Chase Sowell adds size, production for Penn State Football
There, his career began to pop. During his two years as a Pirate, Sowell reeled in over 80 catches for more than 1,000 yards and four touchdowns.
After two years at East Carolina, Sowell made the jump back to the power 4 at Iowa State. Last season, Sowell put up 32 catches for 500 yards and two touchdowns in his first year in Ames.

Can Chase Sowell be Penn State’s First Dominant Receiver Since 2022?
Let’s face it, Penn State hasn’t had a dominant receiver since 2022 when Parker Washington notched 611 receiving yards.
Washington was Penn State’s last semblance of an “alpha” Wide Receiver. He’s now become a focal point of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ passing game.
So, could Chase Sowell break that streak and become the first “alpha” wideout in four years?
The answer is probably not what Nittany Lions fans want to hear, but no.
Sowell is not a dominant, alpha, top-dog Wide Receiver. But, he is really good.
While Sowell isn’t a Wide Receiver 1, he is an elite Wide Receiver 2 or 3 option.
Sowell is a reliable pass catcher who is also capable of busting a big play here and there. The comparison, production wise, is Mitchell Tinsley, but even better.
If Koby Howard can step up and be a true threat at Wide Receiver, he and Sowell could serve as a very good receiving duo.
