Urban Meyer Has Strong Message on Being Linked to Penn State Job
Just last week, it was reported that Urban Meyer had spoken to Pat Kraft about the Penn State job. Meyer has now taken a firm stance to deny those reports, amid Penn State’s coaching search.
Meyer has now broken the silence on the matter.
“Then there’s another one…” Meyer said via the Triple Option Podcast. “The source says that I had conversations with Penn State about the NIL, and I didn’t know how to handle the NIL or so. So come on, that never happened … How do we get the two sources on our show here? Just cracks me up.”
Urban Meyer responds to recent reports that he was interested in – and ultimately passed over for – the Penn State coaching job:

The 61-year-old former Buckeye Head Coach has been out of coaching college football since 2018.
Despite the fact that he has been away from coaching for so long, his name has circulated around the Penn State Football opening. While Meyer has been gone for a while, it’s easy to see why a program like Penn State could want Meyer.
Meyer is one of only 3 coaches to win a National Championship at 2 different schools (Florida and Ohio State).
According to the report last week by Zach Gelb, Meyer reached out to Pat Kraft about the Nittany Lions‘ job.
During this alleged conversation, Kraft and Meyer talked about NIL, a thing that Meyer has not had to coach through. The story ends with Pat Kraft ultimately turning Meyer down due to some uncertainty about NIL, according to Gelb.
Whether Gelb is telling the truth, Meyer is telling the truth, or the truth is somewhere in the middle, it doesn’t sound like Meyer will be the next head coach at Penn State.
