Penn State Football vs. West Virginia Line Falling as Kickoff Nears

 

In April, the betting line for Penn State Football at West Virginia opened at a massive 12.5 points favoring the Nittany Lions. However, since the line opened, the line has steadily fallen toward West Virginia, now sitting at just 8.5 points on FanDuel with a little bit over week until kickoff.

West Virginia brings back a ton of talent from a nine-win 2023 season, including quarterback Garrett Greene, and picked up a few notable transfers including Northwestern cornerbacks Garnett Hollis Jr. and Jaheem Joseph. Still, West Virginia’s win total sits at just 6.5 in a new look Big 12 schedule for the 2024 season.

Last season, Penn State opened the season against West Virginia at home as a 21-point favorite.

In the final seconds of the 2023 game, Penn State Football backup quarterback Beau Pribula rushed for a touchdown to cover the spread in a 38-15 win.

On the season, Penn State Football went 9-4 against the spread, failing to cover in any of the Nittany Lions three losses last season and failing to cover against Indiana. The Nittany Lions did hit the over on win total for 2023, surpassing the 9.5 total regular season wins by a half-game.

In 2024, Penn State once again has a 9.5 total regular season wins line in the new look Big Ten. Penn State has covered in each of the last three-season openers, with the last week one loss against the spread being a week one defeat by the Indiana Hoosiers in overtime during the COVID-shortened 2020 season.
