In 2023, Penn State was featured on Fox’s Big Noon kickoff against Michigan on November 11.
Fox’s Big Noon will ensure that plenty of eyes are on the Nittany Lions as they look to once again open the season with a win over the Mountaineers.
Penn State and WVU opened the 2023 season in Happy Valley, with the Nittany Lions winning easily 38-15 in Drew Allar’s first start for Penn State. In the game, Allar passed for 325 yards and three touchdowns, marking his career high in passing yards.

Penn State Football vs. West Virginia Preview
Ahead of this year’s matchup, Penn State is a massive early favorite in the week one tilt against the Mountaineers, with a line of PSU -12.5.
Despite returning heralded quarterback Garrett Greene and many starters from the team that won nine games last season, Vegas is not giving West Virginia much of a chance against the Nittany Lions in week one, even at home.
In spite of the noon kickoff, Milan Puskar Stadium will likely be rocking as the Mountaineers have momentum entering the season despite the early betting line.
Keeping the game out of the night slot that could have created a very hostile environment for the Nittany Lions is a big win for the program before the game is even played.
Having a national broadcast slot on Fox’s Big Noon kickoff is even bigger if Penn State is able to take care of business and start the season 1-0.
With Penn State looking to be squarely in the mix for the expanded college football playoff in 2024, James Franklin‘s team will need to rack up style points in the eyes of the committee in case the Nittany Lions find themselves in a debate over the final few college football playoff slots.
Fox’s Big Noon kickoff in week one presents a massive opportunity for the program to get recognition and respect out of the gate, now the Nittany Lions will need to prove they are the real deal on the field to come home with a week one win.
