In January, top 2025 offensive lineman Michael Carroll told Lions247 that James Franklin considered Carroll a “must get” prospect for Penn State Recruiting in the 2025 class.
Now in April, Carroll has locked in an official visit to State College, a day after trimming his list to his top 12 schools.
A legacy recruit for the Nittany Lions, Caroll ranks as the No. 8 prospect in Pennsylvania and the number 238 prospect in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings.
The four-star offensive lineman, however, is one of the most prioritized recruits remaining on Penn State’s board for the 2025 class that already includes two other linemen.

Penn State Makes Michael Carroll’s Top-12
On Monday, Carroll trimmed his list of schools to his top 12, which included Penn State along with other national powerhouses Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Tennessee and Texas, among others.
Tuesday, Carroll announced his official visit to Penn State will be on June 14 through 16. Along with announcing his official visit to Penn State, Carroll announced an official visit to the Michigan Wolverines the weekend following his visit to Happy Valley.

The official visit will be Carroll’s sixth visit to campus if he does not make it back before June, visiting most recently in January for one of Penn State’s junior days.
With Carroll only trimming his list recently to the top 12, Penn State still seemingly has a way to go until Carroll makes his final decision. Franklin and Penn State offensive line coach Phil Trautwein will need to continue to build the relationship to Carroll to bring this priority recruit home to Happy Valley next year.
