Penn State Football Recruiting: ’26 Quarterback Peyton Falzone Breaks Down His Nittany Lions Visit

On Thursday Nazareth Area High School standout and Nittany Lion recruit, Peyton Falzone, took the short trip over to State College to watch spring practice. This was Penn State Football’s second spring practice of 2025.

Just over 48 hours later Falzone spoke with NittanyCentral to talk about the visit.

Falzone, who has a unique connection to Penn State, described the visit as “Awesome”. He continued, “It was awesome being able to meet with Coach Franklin, Coach O’Brien, Coach McSorley, and Coach Kotelnicki. Just to see those guys along with the rest of the staff… they treated my Mom and myself very well. So, it was great being on campus.”

Falzone says that Penn State had a clear pitch, leaning into the program’s rich history at the position and how he fits into one of the nation’s most explosive schemes.

“We just talked about what it’s like to be a Quarterback at Penn State,” Falzone explained. “A day in the life, essentially. [Like] how my game fits to what they’re doing and how I bring the running dynamic to the picture. In that offense, you need a really smart guy who can push the ball down the field with his arm and put it wherever he wants, but can also utilize his legs [to] help when the passing game isn’t clicking.”

Peyton Falzone Embraces Competition

With Quarterback Troy Huhn already committed to Penn State, some Quarterbacks would shy away from the potential of competing with a guy in the same recruiting class.

Falzone however, is not one to shy away from competition, something that is a great trait in any football player.

“No, not at all,” Falzone said, when I asked if he would be opposed to being one half of a possible two Quarterback class in 2026. “I’ve never been afraid to compete and no matter where I go I’m gonna compete. Whether it’s one guy in the class, whether it’s two… You just gotta work your tail off and try to get better… I’ve never been one to shy away from that. I embrace it because I know it’s gonna make me a better player.” Falzone said.

Falzone’s competitive nature will help make him successful wherever he goes. Penn State hasn’t taken a two Quarterback class since they took Drew Allar and Beau Pribula in 2022. However, this class of 2026 is shaping up to change that.

Maendler’s Training Yields Results for Falzone

As Penn State fans know, Brad Maendler is starting to make a name for himself as a terrific Quarterback’s coach.

Falzone said that training with Maendler has already started to pay off.

“I love working with him,” Falzone said. “He’s changed my game so dramatically. From where I was just to start the new year [with Maendler]… From then on it’s just night and day. I’ve become so much more accurate as a passer, and I can also generate power without even having to try.”

Penn State Football also seems to be pleased with Falzone’s development as a passer.

“They’re extremely pleased,” Falzone points out. “It’s really cool because Coach Brad obviously has a good connection, having coached Drew and Grunk. [Penn State] has been kind of watching on. I’ve been sending them videos and stuff that I’m doing and they’re applauding me for the work I’m doing and my improvement that I’m making.”

Falzone has yet to schedule an official visit with Penn State, but notes that he will be on campus for the Elite11 competition in May. Falzone also tells me he will likely schedule an official visit for sometime in June.
