St. Thomas Aquinas' Odoh Chukwuma runs against DePaul in the Non-Public B football semifinal on Nov. 10, 2023
Penn State Football remains scorching hot on the recruiting trail. Running backs coach Savon Huggins just landed his second ball carrier for the 2027 recruiting class in the last three days, as Chukwuma Odoh, out of Paramus Catholic, New Jersey announced his commitment to join the Nittany Lions.
In doing so, Odoh will become Robin to Aiden Gibson’s Batman in an already loaded Penn State class.
Running Back U: Savon Huggins Stays Hot on the 2027 Trail

Odoh is the perfect combination of power and speed at six feet and 220 pounds.
The New Jersey running back just posted an impressive 10.8 100-meter last week, around the same time the buzz of a future Nittany Lions commitment was making its way around the recruiting world.
The three-star Top 50 running back had offers from Auburn, Duke, Kentucky, Boston College, Maryland, Miami, and Syracuse, among many others, but decided to join Huggins in State College.
Odoh missed a large portion of last season with an injury, yet still had 122 rushes for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The season prior, Odoh was the primary back for St. Thomas Aquinas, rushing for over 1400 yards and 16 touchdowns before transferring to Paramus Catholic for his junior season.
The Boston College Connection: How Huggins was the Difference for Penn State
The three-star ball carrier may be a somewhat new name to Penn State, but he’s certainly a familiar one to Huggins, who recruited Odoh as far back as his days at Boston College as an assistant.
With the addition of Odoh, Penn State now sets itself up to have one of the better duos in the nation for the recruiting cycle.
Both Aiden Gibson and Chukwuma Odoh are top 50 running backs who could easily see a rise in their rankings. Adding two quality running backs like Gibson and Odoh is exactly what the doctor ordered.
