Penn State Football fans are getting an early Christmas present. Offensive Lineman, Pete Eglitis announced his commitment to Penn State today.
Eglitis is a former Iowa State signee. Following head coach Matt Campbell‘s move to State College, Eglitis was released from his letter of intent to Iowa State.
He has now found his home with Matt Campbell in Happy Valley.
“Thank you to God and all the coaches who have helped me along the way,” Eglitis tells NittanyCentral, after committing to Penn State. “We Are.”
The 6-foot-7 and 270 pound, Columbus, Ohio native chose the Cyclones over Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Lousiville, and several others. The reason he chose the Cyclones to begin with? The culture.
“The final factor for committing to Iowa State was Coach Campbell and Coach Clanton. They made me feel loved. Everything they said, I loved. The culture around the program was just elite.” Eglitis recently told NittanyCentral, during a wide-ranging conversation.

Building the Wall: What Eglitis Brings to the Penn State O-Line
One thing about Pete Eglitis is that he is a winner.
Earlier this month, Eglitis told NittanyCentral about his most recent state championship.
One of the two state championships Eglitis was a part of.
“I found out (about Coach Campbell going to Penn State) about 20 minutes before my state championship game,” Eglitis said. “I’m pretty sure a lot of the dudes in the room got the same ESPN notification as I did. They all came over to me and were like, ‘we just got one thing to worry about right now. Let’s win this game and enjoy the weekend. It’s a Monday thing.’”
“Obviously,” Eglitis said. “I had that in the back of my mind. But to be honest, I wasn’t thinking about it much. I knew God had a plan for me, no matter what … I just played through it.”
That showcase of resiliency is a glimpse into what kind of player Eglitis is.
