Penn State Wrestling: Nittany Lions advance three into the finals | 2025 NCAA Championships Session IV FULL RESULTS

Penn State Wrestling recap from the action in Session IV of the 2024 NCAA Championships.

The penultimate night of wrestling at the 2025 NCAA Championships came to a close. For some wrestlers dreams were still alive. But for other guys their dreams were crushed.

As for the Nittany Lions, the early portion of Session III was a bit bumpy as they saw the following guys lose in their quarterfinal matches:

-Luke Lilledahl
-Braeden Davis
-Tyler Kasak

But Cael Sanderson and his coaching staff steadied the ship as Penn State Wrestling sent seven guys to the semifinals. Keep in mind, at this point last season the Nittany Lions sent six guys to the semifinals and had 86.5 points.

Going into Session IV, Penn State Wrestling still had seven wrestlers in the championship bracket. Furthermore, they had a total of 90.5 team points. So let’s all agree that the team was “Doing just fine”.

Moving on.

At the end of tonight’s action, the dreams will be alive for only 20 wrestlers. Each session in the NCAA Championships gets more and more intense and this session was no different.

But before we break down the wrestling, here is a quick look at the team scores.

Notes, What’s Next for Penn State Wrestling?

Penn State wrestling head coach Cael Sanderson (center) reacts during a dual meet against Ohio State on Feb. 2, 2024, in State College, Pa. The Nittany Lions won, 28-9.

With the results from this evening’s action, the Penn State Wrestling team made history yet again. With all 10 of their guys making All-American, they match only the 2001 Minnesota team who also accomplished this incredible feat.

Did some of the Nittany Lions lose heartbreaking matches?

Of course. But that’s wrestling. And it’s not easy at all.

So onto tomorrow we go!
