Penn State Wrestling Dominates its Way to Big Ten Championship | FULL RESULTS

Penn State Wrestling entered the final session of wrestling at the Big Ten Championships with six wrestlers looking for championships and all nine wrestling Sunday evening had a chance to medal.

In the end, Penn State flew back to Happy Valley with a third consecutive Big Ten Championship Trophy after a dominant showing Sunday night.

1st Place Matches

Lightning Luke Lilledhal led off the Nittany Lions with a championship win at 125lbs. 

Lion Wrestlers went on a 4-0 run for championships with Tyler Kasak 157lbs, Mitch Mesenbrink 165lbs, Levi Haines 174lbs, and Carter Starocci 184lbs. 

Greg Kerkvliet took 2nd place after going up against No. 1 Gable Stevenson (Minnesota) and losing by decision (10-3). 

3rd Place Matches 

Braeden Davis los via fall (2:23)  to take 4th place coming into the B1Gs seeded 4 with hopes to land his bid to NCAAs, which he did.

Beau Bartlett 141lbs and Shayne Van Ness 149 lbs won in consecutive 3rd place matches, landing them each a bronze finish moving on to the NCAAs

5th Place Matches

Josh Barr Injured his knee in his consolation semifinal match against Isaiah Salazar (Minnesota) and forfeited the remainder of his matches to finish 6th place at the Big Ten Championships.

Barr has secured an automatic bid to the NCAAs but the extent of his injury is still unknown.

Other than Barrs injury every Penn State wrestler entered Session IV with a chance to land on the podium.

125 – 1st Place Match – Luke Lilledahl (Penn State) 19-2 won by decision over Caleb Smith (Nebraska) 19-5 (Dec 4-3)

133 – 3rd Place Match – Nic Bouzakis (Ohio State) 22-6 won by fall over Braeden Davis (Penn State) 12-5 (Fall 2:23)

141 – 3rd Place Match – Beau Bartlett (Penn State) 21-1 won by decision over Jesse Mendez (Ohio State) 25-3 (Dec 4-2)

149 – 3rd Place Match – Shayne Van Ness (Penn State) 20-2 won by major decision over Kyle Parco (Iowa) 20-3 (MD 13-0)

157 – 1st Place Match – Tyler Kasak (Penn State) 17-1 won by major decision over Brandon Cannon (Ohio State) 20-3 (MD 12-2)

165 – 1st Place Match – Mitchell Mesenbrink (Penn State) 22-0 won by decision over Mike Caliendo (Iowa) 20-2 (Dec 4-1)
