Penn State Wrestling: Nittany Lions blast competition in the 2024 Black Knight Invite
Penn State Wrestling was back in action this Sunday as they traveled up to New York to compete in the 2024 Black Knight Invite.
And in this case “compete” was just another word for “destroy all comers” because in the end the Nittany Lions went a combined 61-15, won titles at nine of the 10 weight classes, and had 18 place finishers. Furthermore, Penn State grapplers racked up 10 major decisions, 24 technical falls, and 15 pins throughout the whole tournament.
A total of 22 Penn State wrestlers took to the mat in Sunday’s action. And the results pretty much speak for themselves. The Nittany Lions were simply overwhelming and most of the guys weren’t even really tested.
That is unless their opponent was also a member of the Penn State Wrestling Team. In all there were a total of nine matches pitting a Nittany Lion vs. a Nittany Lion. Heck, five of the finals matches were Lion on Lion action. At least on paper there were.
However, due to matches against teammates not actually counting, the Penn State staff decided to not proceed with the finals matches at 174, 184, and 285. Which is a bit of a bummer. But I get it.
The rest of the teammate matches did not disappoint one bit.
So without further ado …
