Penn State Wrestling hosted the No. 25 ranked Indiana Hoosiers Friday evening in Rec Hall.
And as much as the IU fanbase has had to cheer for lately, tonight’s results certainly weren’t one of them. Because the Nittany Lions absolutely put on a wrestling clinic from start to finish in the 48-0 drubbing of Indiana.
I realize that Indiana winning a National Title in football this past Monday night officially constitutes we are living in a bizarro world. But for now, the collegiate wrestling world still belongs to Penn State Wrestling.

Well, that is assuming Curt Cignetti doesn’t take over for Angel Escobedo in Bloomington anytime soon.
But as much as Cignetti will go down as a full-on IU legend, he has a long way to go to reach what Cael Sanderson and his staff have done in Happy Valley.
But enough about that.
Onto the action!

As is the case when Penn State Wrestling isn’t taking on the likes of Iowa or Ohio State. Tonight’s results weren’t much of a surprise.
Furthermore, the Nittany Lions appear to be pedal to the metal at this point in the year.
Which is scary notion considering these guys are training to peak at the end of the season. And not in late January.
However there were a couple of items I would like to note from tonight’s throttling of Indiana.
After a couple of tight matches early in the season, Luke Lilledahl has really got his offense going of late. Just look at what he’s done in his last three matches.
Lilledahl cruised past Dean Peterson (Rutgers) 11-5, then blasted No. 25 Dedrick Navarro (NU) 20-5, and then tonight he pinned No. 11 Jacob Moran.
The other thing that came to my mind might be a bit trivial. But still, it’s something that could happen.
With Lilledahl moving to No. 1 in this past week’s Intermat rankings, Penn State Wrestling now has six guys ranked as the best in their weight class.
Additionally, with the way both Marcus Blaze and PJ Duke are wrestling, it’s possible those two guys could be ranked No. 1 at their respective weights by the B1G’s or the NCAA’s.
Has any college wrestling team ever had eight guys ranked No. 1? I’ll have to look that up. And yes, I know this doesn’t amount to a hill of beans at the end of the year, however I appreciate you humoring me.
Oh, and the last thought I had was this: “Man, Penn State Wrestling is insanely fun to watch”.

Nittany Lion Notes, What’s Next for Penn State Wrestling?

Penn State Wrestling now pushes their NCAA record dual meet winning streak to 81.
For the 2025-2026 season, the Nittany Lions’ record is 10-0 and 4-0 in B1G duals.
Additionally, Cael Sanderson’s career record for the Nittany Lions improves to 228-16-2.
Up next, Penn State Wrestling hits the road tomorrow as they are traveling down to College Park, Maryland to take on the Terrapins. The dual meet is set to begin at 5:00pm EST and will be broadcast on B1G+.
Now, if there is a single positive coming out of this weekend’s gigantic mega-storm, it’s that B1G+ will be free to use for anyone. Thanks for the heads up, Jessi!
