The NFL Draft is approaching, just two weeks away, and while several Penn State Football stars could be joining the NFL ranks, Saquon Barkley is taking a strong stance when it comes to his New York Giants future.
According to a report from Newsday’s Kim Jones, Barkley has no plans to sign his franchise tag, and as a result will not be eligible to participate in the Giants’ offseason program.
I’m told Saquon Barkley will not be signing the franchise tag & therefore will not be eligible to participate when the #NYG offseason program begins Monday. More to come on @NewsdaySports.

During the 2022 season, Barkley rushed for 1,312 yards with 10 touchdowns. He entered the 2022 season on the final year of his rookie deal which he signed in 2018 after being drafted by the Giants. Under the franchise tag, Barkley would be set to earn $10.09 million, but since he was entering free agency for the first time, Barkley was seeking a long-term deal.
Barkley has until July 15 to sign the tag.
