Penn State Football added yet another member to its 2025 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon. Linebacker Dayshaun Burnett became the latest commit in the 2025 class on Wednesday.
Burnett chose the Nittany Lions over Rutgers and Pitt. His other notable offers included Michigan, Michigan State, West Virginia and Kentucky.
The writing that Burnett wanted to claim his spot in Penn State’s class was on the wall when he swiftly announced his intentions to commit just a day after 4-star linebacker Alex Tasch committed to Penn State Football.
What Dayshaun Brooks Brings Penn State Football
Rated as the No. 39 linebacker in the country and No. 13 player in the state of Pennsylvania, Burnett is the sixth 4-star commit in Penn State’s 2025 class.
He is already the fifth recruit from Pennsylvania to secure their spot in Penn State’s class.
Listed at 6-foot-2.5 and 215 pounds, the Pittsburgh native currently profiles as an outside linebacker, but could grow into a defensive end down the road.
The position flexibility could come in handy for the Nittany Lions as they have two other linebackers outside of Burnett already committed and are still in the mix for multiple other highly-rated linebackers.

Where 2025 Class Stands
First year defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Tom Allen has to feel good about the potential his linebacker haul in this 2025 class could have.
With Burnett in the fold, Penn State now has 10 commits in its 2025 class and currently ranks sixth in the national rankings. The Nittany Lions will have to finish the cycle strong to stay in the top 10 of the rankings, but this is certainly a strong start.
