Who picked Penn State Football as a Sleeper team?

Penn State Football’s expectations might be tempered after posting an 11-11 record over the past two seasons, but not everyone is counting the Nittany Lions out.

As a new College Football season begins, the debut episode of ESPN’s College GameDay for the 2022 campaign featured a segment where the hosts listed their “sleeper teams” for the upcoming season.

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit listed Penn State Football as a team to keep an eye on this fall.

So after hearing that, is this the season that the Penn State Nittany Lions will make the College Football Playoff for the first time?

For the last couple of years, the Nittany Lions have been ranked as high as number 5, but have not been able to get over the hump to make the College Football Playoff. Since the College Football Playoff started in 2014, Penn State has made the New Years Six bowl games three times, and are 2-1 in those games.

Penn State Football kicks off the 2022 College Football season on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Purdue.
