Penn State Basketball dropped its first defeat of the season, after opening the 2022-23 campaign with three consecutive wins, in heartbreaking fashion to Virginia Tech on Friday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions dropped to the Hokies, 61-59, in the semifinals of the Shiners’ Chrildren’s Charleston Classic.
It didn’t take long for Penn State Basketball fans to take to Twitter, with some STRONG reactions to the Nittany Lions’ loss to Virginia Tech:
Tough 2 point loss for @PennStateMBB, but for year 2 of the rebuild I am happy af. We figure to be close to a tournament team. Today would've gone miles towards that end, but losing by 2 is fine. Still shows quality.
Cannot let down tomorrow in consi game v. ODU/CoSt.
Must win. https://t.co/rPdF5qF9UB— Jay 💙💥⚡️🏴☠️🦁 (@JayJayallday31) November 18, 2022

Gutsy comeback. Could’ve let the big lead grow but instead got it down to the last play. Not a fan of the no-call to lose, but just being there was a relief. Lotta winning coming up.

Wynter? That's the guy you go to when you need a basket to extend the game? He hadn't even been in the game in a half hour.
Really poor plan coming out of that timeout by Shrewsberry.
Winnable game, but you can't beat good teams when only two guys show up to play. #PSUMBB

Typical finish by a Penn State basketball team

Tough loss for PSU to Virginia Tech. Lions took a ton of body blows early and still had a chance to win it at the end.
Credit @Coach_Shrews for instilling toughness in this group. Had a blast watching that game today.

Penn State is proving it can be a force in the Big Ten.
But it's the Hokies get the win in the Charleston Classic semifinals. Virginia Tech is making up for the dumpster fires in Louisville and Florida State for the ACC.
