No. 11 Penn State Football offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich reached deep into his bag of tricks to spring tight end Theo Johnson for his second touchdown of the game on Saturday afternoon against Michigan State.
With the Nittany Lions leading the Spartans 7-0, Yurcich dialed up a play that saw Sean Clifford throw a lateral pass to wide receiver Keandre Lambert-Smith, who launched the ball deep downfield to Johnson for a 54-yard score.
Late in the first quarter, Penn State Football got the scoring started when Clifford connected with Wide open Johnson for the 7-0 lead.

Just a shocking defensive strategy for covering a massive man such as Theo Johnson pic.twitter.com/6numMYfDKm

A 90 yard drive capped off with a Theo Johnson TD.
Penn State already over 100 total yards of offense in the first quarter.

Xavier Henderson is pissed and I don’t blame him. Somebody lined up wrong leaving the wide a lot WR open. He had to immediately leave his position to cover allowing the Penn State TE to score

MSU not covering TE Theo Johnson over the middle in the red zone makes me question if they watched any film

Per Penn State that Theo Johnson’s TD is Penn State’s 11th by a TE this season. The Nittany Lions entered the game leading the Big Ten in TDs by a TE and second in Power Five
