Penn State Football, and head coach James Franklin added a sixth commitment from the state of Virginia, strengthening a recruiting pipeline Friday.
Kaveion Keys, a 4-star linebacker out of Richmond, Virginia, has committed to Penn State. Keys, 6-foot-3 205lbs, held at least 16 offers from schools including Auburn, UNC, Florida, and Virginia Tech. Keys backed off his commitment to UNC on December 8th, where he was committed to since August. Keys officially visited Penn State in June before committing to UNC.
Keys chose Penn State Football over North Carolina and Virginia Tech (where he was recruited by former Penn State Defensive Coordinator Brett Pry).
The Nittany Lions now hold commitments from six of the top 11 recruits from Virginia, a State that the staff has prioritized in recent years.

Keys is the third 4-star linebacker commit in the 2023 class for Penn State, joining Tony Rojas out of Fairfax, Virginia and Ta’Mere Robinson out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The three commits make up one of the better linebacker hauls in the country for the 2023 class and should continue to build the strong reputation of Penn State as “Linebacker U”.
