The Penn State Football team began winter workouts Tuesday, marking the first opportunity for transfer players and early enrollee freshmen to take part in team activities.

Over James Franklin’s tenure, assistant coaches have always named a competitor of the day for each position group.

For the first winter workout in 2023, the Nittany Lions saw three new faces take home the crown as competitor of the day in their respective positions.

Defensive Coordinator Manny Diaz names early enrollee freshman Tony Rojas as “LBU” competitor of the day. Rojas is one of the brightest defensive stars, and potential future contributors in the program.

Penn State Football’s winter workouts could set the stage for some breakout stars to push for expanded roles once the team hits the field for spring practices next month, ahead of the 2023 regular season.
