It seems during any football season there is that one player where fans look at each other and think, where did he come from? This year could be no different for Penn State Football, with a ton of new faces looking to have bigger roles.
So who is a potential sleeper pick for the Nittany Lions?
London Montgomery might be a good candidate.
The PA native comes into a Penn state Football RB room that some would say has the best duo in the country with Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen.
Montgomery is now the third ESPN 300 back to sign with the Nittany Lions in the last two cycles.
Speaking of ESPN, the outlet has high hopes for Montgomery, naming him Penn State’s newcomer to watch in 2023:
Incoming freshman London Montgomery (No. 233 overall) is the third ESPN 300 running back to sign with Penn State in the past two cycles. If Singleton or Allen gets hurt, Montgomery could provide some much-needed insurance.

Will London Montgomery contribute for Penn State Football in 2023?
No one wants to talk about it, but if Allen or Singleton would go down with an injury, Montgomery should add some talented depth to an already star studded room.
Montgomery does come to PSU having missed his last season of high school after suffering an ACL tear.
Given full health coming off the injury, Montgomery will get his share of carries, even with Allen and Singleton healthy.
Montgomery does not need to come take the bulk of the load, that will be handled, but giving Allen and Singleton some breathers will only benefit this offense as the season moves along.
Franklin and staff enjoy using a rotation at RB. With Keyvone Lee mixing into the rotation as that third running back just last year.
One thing is for sure, the future of Penn State Football running backs continues to be in good hands.
