Penn State Football Picks Up Intriguing Transfer Portal Commitment

Penn State Football, Drew Allar,

Following his weekend visit, division II transfer portal offensive tackle Alan Herron has committed to Penn State Football, according to his Instagram.

Since entering the transfer portal on November 16th, Herron had received offers from Syracuse, NC State, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Auburn, and Miami, among others.

247Sports ranks Herron as the No. 6 offensive tackle in the transfer portal at the moment, and Herron has no shortage of suitors lined up. Herron, a sophomore, played for the Shorter University Hawks for the past two years before entering the transfer portal.

What Alan Herron Brings Penn State Football

He would have three years of eligibility remaining. With starting left tackle Olu Fashanu already declared for the 2024 NFL draft, and awaiting a decision from starting right tackle Caedan Wallace on whether he will use his COVID year to return to the Nittany Lions in 2024, Penn State and head coach James Franklin made an effort to bring in depth to the tackle position and add a coveted transfer portal player at the position.

Where Herron fits on the depth chart for Penn State in 2024 remains to be seen as Penn State waits for Wallace’s decision.
