Caedan Wallace Garnering Significant Interest Ahead of NFL Draft

While Penn State Football offensive tackle Olu Fashanu may be the belle of the ball ahead of next week’s NFL draft, the Nittany Lions‘ second starting tackle, Caedan Wallace, has been garnering significant interest in his own right.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero announced Thursday that Wallace has taken nine “top 30” visits with teams, including six visits in the last ten days ahead of next week’s draft.

Wallace has had documented visits with the Colts, 49ers, Patriots, Chiefs, and Commanders, among others.

The fifth-year redshirt senior started 40 games at right tackle and appeared in 47 games in his career in Happy Valley.

While Wallace went under the radar compared to Fashanu, he has been rising up draft boards since his standout performance in Shrine Bowl practices earlier this year.

Shrine Bowl Director of Player Operations Eric Galko mentioned earlier this draft cycle that Wallace is one of only four draft prospects with at least 1,000 career snaps at right tackle (Wallace has 1,276 in his five year career at Penn State).

Galko further mentioned “Best game to watch is vs. Ohio State, as he won almost every rep against their immensely talented defensive front four.” He continued “His dominating week at the Shrine Bowl solidified him as a projected starting draft pick. And an elite 10 yard split (1.73) and broad jump (9’8) at the NFL Combine bumped his RAS to an 8.20.”

When Wallace Might be Picked

Although he was viewed as a day-three pick when the NFL draft process began, Wallace seems to be climbing up draft boards and now could be a “potential Day 2 pick” according to Pelissero.

One year ago, former Penn State center Juice Scruggs surprised many when he heard his named called by the Texans in the second round of last year’s NFL draft.

Wallace could be the next Penn State offensive lineman to surprise people on day two next Friday.
